A l’inici, van començar amb l’exportació dels seus productes a diferents països, sobretot l’enciam i l’escarola. Amb terres a diferents municipis de la zona del Llobregat, en Joaquim Canillo és un dels majors productors de Carxofa Prat amb cinquanta hectàrees. És per aquesta raó que se’l coneix com el Rei de la Carxofa.
